I can't live without my annual trip to Weed, California
The town of Weed gets its name from the founder of the local lumber mill, Abner Weed, who discovered that the area's strong winds were helpful in drying lumber. In 1897, Abner Weed bought the Siskiyou Lumber and Mercantile Mill and 280 acres of land in what is now the City of Weed, for the sum of $400. By the 1940s Weed boasted the world's largest sawmill.
Weed is mentioned in John Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men.
Weed's official city motto is “Weed like to welcome you.”
(Un)official Weed City Motto: “But only if you brought some.”
I heart my summer vacations in Stalker, Pennsylvania
Stalker, Pennsylvania is located across the Delaware River from Hankins, New York. According to its “Things to Do in Stalker” Facebook page, it has no recommended restaurants, bars, hotels or museums. It is, however, a popular location for memes and social media posts when someone wants to make a slightly ambiguous point to a potential online stalker.
In Pennsylvania (and basically everywhere), stalking is a crime. In case you were wondering.
(Un)official Stalker Voicemail: “I can seeeee you.”
